Opinions needed please

Okay here is my Nearly Insane up on the design wall, minus a few of the half blocks.

And here is a picture of the sashing and cornerstone fabric that I'm thinking of using.

I would need to order the red & white/cream sashing from BunnyHill. If you click above it will take you to a better picture of the fabric. I already have the cornerstone fabric and I love it, but I just need some reassurance I guess.
I also finished my 8th Truly Scrumptious block and prepped the 9th one to start stitching on tonight.

Oh my gosh...I just heard that Michael Jackson died today...wow, he's just a little bit older than me...weird. I'm not going to get into his personal life, but I know that I really, really enjoyed dancing the night away to his songs in the early 80's...fun times!
Please if you have time give me opinions on my choices, I'd really appreciate it!

The blocks look soooo good together. If you're still pondering the sashing and would need to get more if you use it, then cut say 4 strips and some cornerstones and audition them, you'll soon know if you love it. Don't forget to show us, lol. I need to go make a block today!

First of all, I was STUNNED when I saw your blocks!!!!

I had heard about this quilt, but it is TRUELY an INSANE project!!! LOL

2nd - Janet made a wonderful suggestion.... "audition" the blocks.

And 3rd, I'm certainly NOT an expert but I would be afraid that your sashing fabric would be too busy and take away from the splendour of your blocks...

My 25 cents worth... *s*

I would also say to audition the sashing with some of your blocks to see what it will look like. I love your blocks, I love the red and white as I have told you. I have the Nearly Insane book and the Just Plain Nuts book. One day when I finish the Dear Jane quilts maybe I will start on it - it is tempting me!

I love seeing your blocks on your design wall.

I agree about auditioning the fabrics. Cut a strip and put it on your design wall.

Your Nearly Insane is absolutely gorgeous (and so is your Scrumptious Girl).

Hey, you know what? The more that I look at your blocks, on the design wall, the more I like ... and you're probably not gonna care for my suggestion, but.... the more I like just "white" sashing.

The (white) background to your design wall makes your blocks look like they're "floating"...

Another 25 cents' worth of opinion. *s*

I guess I agree with the girls. I would like to see the fabric before I choose as there are creams and creams and reds and reds. The red looks fantastic but it is the sashing stripe that I would want to see..
I took my sashing along to group today and because it is left field people could not see what I could see.
Have to make a few more blocks and then I will trial some of the sashing
Cheers

Oh Ranette, it looks just fabulous!! I may yet be tempted to add this quit to the end of my list of quilts I want to make!!!
Everybody has said, what I was thinking.
Audition some pieces to get an idea.
But I'm with Rosa. I liked seeing it on the white, or even white sashing and the dark red cornerstones!!!

Check this:http://hannequilt.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html. You'll have to scroll down a bit. It's a finished red/white NI, with white sashings. The quilt in progress is a page or so further back. Perhaps it'll help you to make some desicions!
I'm rather shocked too to hear about M.J. death. I don't think he had a happy life, but YES I remember dancing the night away!!

I like your choice of colors, I think they are beautiful blocks. And the Truly Scrumptious, one of these days I want to do this.
