Can you believe it...

The center is finished!!! I'm so excited to have my Dear Jane quilt this far along. Only two more months to go on the BOM that I'm doing with Stitchin Heaven and I'll have this quilt to the LA quilters.

Tonight is quilting night with my "quilting buddies". It's harder now for me to go since it's chilly and I like to snuggle in with my hubby in the evenings, but it will be fun. Next week it will probably be worse since we "fall" back on Sunday but we meet here I think.

I am feeling VERY overwhelmed lately with everything. I wonder if that's normal? I have so much to do at work and so much I want to do at home and I do get a lot done everyday, but it's just not enough. Also I've been thinking about going on a strict fabric diet next year. I really need to sew up all of the projects that I have and NOT add to the list or the stash. It will be hard but think of the money I'll save. Maybe enough that I can quit work? Don't know, I need to think about that one. Also with two daughters in college and one only 3 years away, I'm sure I'll be working forever...lol

I've been asking my family for Christmas lists so I can get started on shopping a little early. I do most of it online since I work in retail and the thought of going shopping nearly makes me sick. Oh I also need to finish up with my SSCS gifts.

Wow...

I cannot believe that it is Saturday already! I have had a pretty good week. Lots of work done on my Dear Jane quilt. I finished M-7 last night which means only 6 blocks to go and I'll have all of the blocks done. I'm sure several will get made today while we watch the OSU-TX football game. Then I have 3 triangles to make and I'll be a caught up until next months packet comes. I am ready to be done with this quilt but I will miss it.

I'm not feeling great today so I'm getting ready to go and prop up in my favorite chair, but I wanted you to see the little block I made from my Postcard Cuties for Winter from Bunny Hill Designs quilt. I showed the fabric and patterns last month I think.



Later this week I really will get busy with my Dear Jane. I need to bust out the blocks for the last row...yeah!!!

Homecoming weekend at OSU come and gone...

Thank goodness it's over! I am tired because I worked harder than I've worked for awhile...lol Oklahoma State University has one of the largest homecoming celebrations in the country and since we haven't lost a football game this season and the weather was beautiful, there was a record crowd in Stillwater, Oklahoma! We had a record day at the store on Friday and Saturday and probably today (I'm not there though). A friend of mine took this picture at one of the Greek Frat houses for me




How cool is that?!?!? College boys thought this up...they must have lots of Mom's and Grandma's making quilts for them...lol

Not much quilting has gone on here today, just a little bit of stitching and lots of laundry!

The Debate

Tonight was the last Presidential Debate, thank God, but I did get a lot done. Here is the fall wallhanging that I've been working on for a couple of days. I used the "quick fuse" method of applique and then zig-zagged everything down and then I quilted it with invisible thread. Fun, quick and easy...gotta love it!



The I finished up block #6 on the quilt that I'm making for my Mom.



Also I took a picture of my kitchen table because I think it looks pretty. And here is a picture looking out of my front door. See the neighbors tree is turning red. After a couple of days like today the leaves should really start turning around here. It was cold and rainy most of the day, I even had to turn the heater on for just a minute. I made homemade chicken noodle soup for the family...they said it was yummy. Hubby started to build a fire but I didn't think it was cold enough yet and besides by then I was hot from cooking and sewing.

It's raining...finally!

It wasn't raining when I took this picture....but it is now! I love it! And it's cooled off a bit too. I was just playing around with my new camera when I took this picture of my front door on Sunday, but I think it looks pretty. The Hostas are about done though and I did "dead head" the Mum on the right so it should start blooming again soon.



Here is a picture of a table in my entryway. I still haven't figured out cropping of photos yet. I thought I had the cooler bag cropped out, but no apparently I didn't get it right. I made the leaf quilt probably 15 years ago and it's a favorite fall decoration.

I'm not feeling well lately and I'm not sure why. I haven't even been sewing very much and I'm falling behind on my DearJane blocks....I really need to stay on track with them. I'm taking a day or two off next week so maybe I'll have a marathon sew day.

Better get ready for work!

Fall is here!

I think Fall is definitely here to stay. This is not a picture from my yard though. I wish! I'll try to take some pics later (my leaves have not turned this much) but right now it is dark! I love the cool crisp days that fall brings and the even cooler nights. Love em!!!



Met with my quilting group last night. Paulette made a wonderful Spaghetti dinner complete with salad and bread. For dessert we had a tart apple crisp and ice cream...yummy! We were at her house and I should have taken my camera because her house is amazing! She has so much cool stuff that she picks up at garage sales or the goodwill (I NEVER find anything cool by the way) and she has a way of putting it all together so that it looks like a spread in Country Home. I asked her how she keeps it all dusted and she laughed and says she doesn't! Not much quilting was done but lots of visiting was...fun!



My brother and his wife are coming for dinner and to bring a car that we're thinking of buying from them for D#2, so we'll have a fun evening. Sorry about the boring post, later this week I will hopefully have pics of a cute new fall wall hanging I'm working on. Oh and last night I worked on a Christmas project. Woo hoo!

Fall finish

Here's the little fall wall hanging I mentioned in an earlier post. I've had the pattern for over a year and finally last week I decided to get it made and hung up. I hung it above the antique "player piano" that I inherited from my Grandma Verna. In the second picture you can see it close up. I didn't applique it, but I did quilt it all over with invisible thread. Probably not my best work...done is better than perfect, right ;o)



Enjoy the wonderful fall evening (it could stand to be just a bit cooler here). I'm off to dig around in my sewing area for a bit.

Hello again....

Is it just me or does time fly for everyone these days? I can remember when my girls were little and some days just seemed to drag on and on. Now every single day just goes by so fast. Even the college kids that work for me agree and I know when I was that age I never worried about time passing by. Personally I think time has sped up somehow....lol.

The block above is another one in the quilt that I am making my Mom. I am buttonhole appliqueing another one right now and I have one prepped and waiting. I'm also working on a couple of fall projects and maybe this weekend (if i'm not too tired from working my second saturday in a row, yuck) I'll be able to post some progress pics. I sent my fall quilt off with my quilter friend Linda on Tuesday and I'll bet she has it done in a few days. I did something really stupid while making the binding for the fall quilt, I cut the bias binding 1.5". What was I thinking!?!?!? I've made bias binding 100's of times...well maybe dozens of times and I've never screwed up and made it the wrong size before. I have forgotten to offset my tube though ;0). Oh well not that big of deal really.

I suspect lots of quilters will be working in their sewing rooms tonight while their hubbies watch the Vice presidential debate. Don't get me wrong I'm very interested in politics and I am a very aware person but I just can't take much more of this race. Enough said!
