Nothing new for me to report on here. I did work on my Pies and tarts for a little bit last night. Oh and I've been married for 24 years now! WooHoo! Finally a finish to show!!!

Here's my Diawabo Houses quilt, done...well except for a label that is.

 

This quilt reminds me of the long sleeve plaid shirts that my Grandad used to wear. I'm not sure where in my house it's going to hang, but I'll find a spot. Here are some closeups of the quilting on the house blocks.

 

 

 

My quilter, Linda Farrall, really out did herself with this quilt. She quilted every single house a little different. Amazing!!!
Oh and I did manage to get one more red & white NI block done.

 

Ooops...should have caught those two little red flowers together, but I'm not doing it over again. You'll never even notice it once the quilt is done.

Well the weekend is winding down. Today went by so fast...not nearly enough accomplished, but I guess there's always tomorrow.

I did pick up the The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt book at the quilt store the other day. More six inch blocks, although at first glance they are much simpler than the NI blocks. Oh and I did prep a Brightie Jane block for the Dear Jane group tonight and I sewed the two (pitiful, I know) finished rows together. Not much progress on that quilt right now. Still sewing binding down on the Diawabo Houses quilt. I might finish tonight and I'll post a picture tomorrow maybe.

To all my Australian friends....omg I feel for you guys right now. I hope that none of you have health problems caused by all of that red dirt! Believe it or not I've seen it look that way in Oklahoma a time or two. Very scary and weird. Oh and the dusting you'll have to do....oh my!

Are you tired of my Nearly Insane blocks yet???

I hope not because that's all I've been sewing. I'd really like to be done with this quilt by the end of the year. Hopefully that's not an impossible task. I thought I had finished most of the really challenging blocks until I started running off papers for paperpiecing some more blocks and it seems that I have some hard ones left. I am over half way done though!

I am itching to start a new project, but I'm not going to do it. I'm behind on several other projects as well and I will not stress about it. I did get the binding finished on the Prairie Paisley quilt that I showed a few posts back. Oh and I did get the Diawabo Houses quilt back from my quilter and I sewed the binding on it yesterday and I'll get it sewn down this week and then I'll post some pictures. The quilting is fabulous on the houses!

Other updates in my life....the knee is better and still healing. I'm still off of sugar and I've lost a little bit of weight, always a bonus! I'm tired of working all of the time, but after the coming weekend we will get a break...yeah! I did order and get some of the new French General fabric in the form of a jelly roll, layer cake and charm squares. I usually don't buy the precuts, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this fabric and will purchase yardage when it becomes available.

Okay time to get myself ready for Monday. I hope that it's a great day for you all!

Nothing much happening on the sewing front in the last couple of days. I'm a failure at the Nearly Insane challenge this week. I only finished 4 of the 7 blocks I needed to make. I just ran out of time. I did get my Diawabo Houses quilt back from the quilter and it's wonderful. When I get the binding on I'll show a picture. Well I'm off to work in a little while, but I just can't do a post without a picture so here's one from last Fall. I'm putting this picture up because I hope to get some decorating for the season done this Sunday.

 

Oh and I found a picture of the quilt I made last Fall for my bed...it's already on the bed now and I love it.

 

If you've seen these pictures before, I'm sorry to be so boring, but I have nothing new to show.

Just a few Nearly Insane blocks!

I haven't had tons of time this week so far, but I have been able to work on the challenge issued by the NI Yahoo group this week, which was to finish all of the slice and dice blocks (edge blocks). I needed to make 7 and I've got the following four done!

 

 

 

 

Not sure if I'll get the other three made by tomorrow, but I'll give it my best shot!

Cool picture isn't it???

 

Isn't this a cool picture of a picture??? Kara's boyfriend Jacob took it and I really like it. It's a picture of the pattern cover for the Truly Scrumptious quilt by Cinderberry Stitches. Guess what?! I'm giving away the patterns for the entire quilt and all of my left over fabric. I loved making this quilt and I want to share that with someone else who will love making their own quilt.

Let's see do I have any quilting news? Well I made a few Nearly Insane blocks in my spare (lol) time.

 

 

 

My blocks always photograph a little wonky even though they measure square...hmmm...not sure why that is. I think I have 50 blocks done so that means that I'm half way done! Woo hoo...I'm ready to be finished with this quilt, although I do enjoy working on it.

Also my thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the 9/11 tragedies on this day.

In other news, I was fortunate to be able to stumble on Teresa's blog awhile back and I'm so thankful that I did. I think that God actually points the way to some friendships and He did this one. Teresa and her bff Leslie were road tripping on Friday and they made a stop in Stillwater! So my daughter Kara and I met up with them at the Quilting Post for a few minutes. It would have been longer except that work was slamming that day...lol

Teresa is wonderful and I felt as if I had known her my whole life. Leslie is wonderful as well and I can't wait to introduce both of these sweet ladies to my running buddies, Sharon and Kathy. Latest finish....

I'm not quite done sewing down the binding on this quilt, but for all practical purposes it's done. The fabric is Prairie Paisley by Moda and right now I can't for the life of me remember what the pattern is. I still have enough fabric from this line to make another quilt

I'm still very busy at work, but I've been trying to keep the house up in little bits and that way I have a few minutes to sew every day. That's good for my mental health. Somehow sitting at my machine or picking up a needle and thread almost instantly lowers my blood pressure and I can feel my muscles loosening up.

Here is a newly finished block for my Nearly Insane quilt. Not perfect, but done!

 

I think that makes 47 blocks done. I wish I could finish this quilt this year, but I'm not sure I can.

I continue with my lucky streak....I won a $25 (I think) gift certificate to the Quilting Post (local quilt shop) yesterday at the guild meeting. I have not won anything much in my life since I won at bingo in 2nd grade and then another girl got to pick out the prize before me...lol...and I was mad. I think the prize was a package of barrettes, but I'm not sure.

Time to go feed my family some dinner. Have a Blessed and relaxing evening!

Can you believe it?!?! Oh a week or so ago I entered a drawing on Anne Sutton's Bunny Tales blog for an antique spool. Anne apparently had put some of these antique spools up for sale on her website when I was out of town and somehow I missed them. I would have bought one because I think they're really cool. And the ribbons and trims....

I had several people mention that they had never heard of Dovo brand scissors before and they would like to try them. I bought my 7" Dovo's from Bunny Hill Designs and they carry my very favorite pair of scissors which are the 5" applique scissors. I use these scissors constantly. I'm thinking that I might need to add the Dovo travel set to my collection...hmmmm I love shopping on Anne's site. Everything is shipped promptly and it's all packaged so pretty.
