In the nick of time

I have finished my April Postcard Cuties block. Looks like when I pressed this block I pressed one little french knot flat so I'll have to go back and fix that later. Marja...have you finished your April block?

 
Things have been busy, busy around here for some reason. Some of my DearJane group came over yesterday afternoon. Not sure that we accomplished a lot, but it was fun!

 

Also on Tuesday my Mom, her friend Donna and Sharon and I had a wonderful lunch here. Sharon brought all of the food and it was wonderful...Thank you Sharon :o)!!!
I forgot to take pictures but it was a nice visit.

I joined the Pincushion Summer Swap 09 a few days ago and I'm excited to get my swap partner. There's still time to join, I think sign-ups go until May 10th. I didn't realize that so many of us quilters love pincushions, but there are bunches of us!

I've been making some progress on my Janiebright blocks, but no pictures yet. I'm itching to start a new quilt and probably will in the next week or so. Just need to finish the stitching on the basket quilt which is coming along slowly it seems.

Oh and I had computer problems for a couple of days...yuck...since when did I get so dependent on my computer??? I think I'll start not getting on it at all for 1 day per week and see what happens...I might start a new trend. I know that it does take a bunch of my time, but for the most part I enjoy it. Oh and my refrigerator is on the blink. Doesn't it make you angry that appliances don't last much over 5 or 6 years these days??? Grrrrr!

A small finish & it's Friday!!!

I'm so glad that it's Friday, aren't you? I love Fridays as my hubby and I usually order out and watch a movie after we get home from work. It's like you can kind of, let down, if you know what I mean.

Here is a picture of my very first Jo's Little Women quilt. There aren't any clubs that meet close to me, that I know of, so I joined one online. When the first shipment came I was so disappointed that the quilt was a little bigger than her usual little quilts and that the center is applique. Well I'm not disappointed now. I enjoyed every second of making this quilt and applique is my new love so it worked out perfectly!

 

Since I was taking a picture of the above quilt on my design wall. I took a picture of my selvage quilt blocks. This is an ongoing project and the pattern is out of Mark Lipinski's Quilter's Home magazine. I plan to make several of these quilts because I think they are fun and they bring back memories of certain fabrics. Plus it's a way to use ALL of your fabric.

 

Last night was the monthly Dear Jane meeting at the Quilting Post downtown. It's so nice to have a quilt shop in Stillwater after years and years of not having one. I think that business is good as well. We had a good time and I'm enjoying getting to know all of the ladies that come to the group.

Time to go and dry my hair and get ready for work. TGIF .....

How is everyone this morning??? I'm not feeling very well this morning, but I really wanted to post a picture of the beautiful quilt that Jessica from The Savage Quilter in OKC is making. Isn't it wonderful?!?!? It's her own design and it's not finished yet. I know that there will be wonderful applique on the finished quilt and I just can't wait to see it.

I'm still working away on the borders for the flower basket quilt although I did take some time yesterday to make a Nearly Insane block and to work on my hourglass border for my Jo Morton quilt.

Think I'm going to go and lay down again.

Terrible pictures I know, but I was by myself and wanted to show you a picture of my first row on my new Janiebright quilt. I couldn't even get the row into one picture. I need to take a photography class...I probably won't do it, but I need to...lol

I'm off with Kathy tomorrow to take the Intermediate Applique class from Jessica at The Savage Quilter in OKC. It's a 2 day class and I'm really looking forward to what we'll hopefully learn. I've said it before but I'm going to say it again, Jessica is a wonderful teacher and it's fun to be in the shop and her mom Debbie is just a sweetie! I'd put a link to their website but I don't think it's working right now for some reason.

I might do a little fabric shopping while I'm in the shop for 2 days...ahhhhh sounds fun huh? I'll post again when I get back. Have a great weekend!

I'm no PW in the kitchen...

but I can make some really good homemade rolls. And they're pretty lowfat too!

 

I also made a NI block today to keep up with the online bow.

 

It looks washed out in the picture but it's very vibrant in person.
And I've made several messes around here trying to organize my stuff! Think I'll go settle in for the evening with some pie and some applique.

Kellie over at Don't look now! posted a free pattern for her Honey Bunny last week, so Kara and I decided we would make bunnies on Friday. Fun little project and didn't take very long, unless you count the stitching. Whew...that part was a little difficult for me and it doesn't look all that great, so don't look too close...lol

What in the world???

I'm busy today with several different projects, Mom's quilt, pro bono quilt, Easter Bunny wall-hanging, cooking, cleaning and cheering on my hubby while he works in the yard. Oh and bringing him ice water...It is a beautiful Spring day, sure wish we had more like this one. I hear that tomorrow is going to be stormy. I feel so bad for the people in Arkansas and Tennessee (tornadoes) and for that matter, Midwest City and Choctaw (fires). I don't think the fires here in Stillwater damaged any homes but they did burn many acres of land and lots of hay.

Here is a small quilt that I made for my brother and his wife several years ago, like 15 I think, in honor of their living on the other side of the world. Look at that curved piecing, didn't even know I could do that...lol and the thing that shocked me when I looked at this again after all this time, I hand quilted it!!! I thought I'd only hand quilted my youngest daughter's baby quilt (took me 15 years), but no I guess I've done more handquilting that I thought. It doesn't even look half bad. :o)

 

Well back to the grind. Hopefully I'll have some finishes to put on here very soon. I'm trying!!!

It's a start...

I think I have too much fabric. Oh don't think that this is all of it, nope, this is a little bitty bit of it. I've got fabric from France (third shelf down on the left) that my hubby brought back for me. I don't even have my Japanese fabrics out of the box yet. I've got reproductions (on the right in photo) and more repros that fill up at least 6 boxes. See the red & white? I've got way, way more r&w because that's my favorite color combo. Batiks? I've got tons of them too!

Do I sound overwhelmed??? I am! I have decided NOT to buy anymore fatquarters, ever. Now if I can hold to that promise to myself. If I love a fabric enough to buy it from now on I will purchase at least 1/2 yard. But I'm going to try to sew up what I have. I could sew full time from now until this time next year and still have plenty to do....really!

 

And books??? Don't even get me started on books. I bought 2 new ones this week that I'll show later. I'm trying to get them on the bookshelf and in some sort of order so at least I'll know what I've got. Thread is also another issue with me...I love it. :o)

At least my upstairs sewing room is painted and I'll get there with organizing everything. The problem is that I'd rather be sewing!!! The only thing I've done this week is work on my "pies and tarts". I did receive all of the border fabric for the flower basket quilt so I'll get that prepped for stitching this weekend, hopefully.

Sorry to sound a little down...I think I'm just tired and not getting in enough sewing.

Time flies when you're raising Kara!

Nineteen years ago today I gave birth to this beauty!

 

What a blessing Kara is to me and our family. She's loving, fun, witty and energetic and you always know exactly where you stand with Kara because she tells you...lol!!!

Delicious quilting inspiration....

I've been adding to my quilt book library lately. Even if I never make anything in any of these books (I probably will though) they do provide much inspiration to me. I used to be an avid fiction reader...all of the new titles were in my bookshelves. Now the shelves are filling up with quilt books and I never read fiction anymore...does that mean there's something wrong with me?
