Here is this weeks Civil War block, London Square. Hmmm, not sure if I like it or not, but I'll keep it. It looks very "southwest" to me and not my style at all. It measures right on, but it looks like I'll have to be careful when assembling the quilt not to lose a couple of points.
If you haven't made this block yet, be sure to make "scant" quarter inch seams.
Has anyone else in the world fallen in love with this quilt that was recently featured in Quiltmania?I just adore it. The baskets are wool and they are only about 2 3/4" tall. So tiny! It is going on my "to do" list very soon. I am thinking that I'll use Luna Notte since I have a fat 1/8th bundle of that from my trip to Paducah last Fall.
Okay, it's time for a sneak peek of the quilt that I am making for my niece who is getting married this Summer. The pattern is Curlicue Crush by Chasing Cottons and my sister is the one who found the pattern and all of the fabric to make this beauty. It's a little tedious, curved piecing and all, but it's very "vibrant". In the picture the top few rows are sewn together, but the rest of it is just placed. I've made it a bit bigger than the pattern and this is one quilt that is much easier if you have a design wall. My plan is to put some serious time into sewing on this baby today, so hopefully I'll be finished soon. Oh and the fabric is all Innocent Crush by Anna Maria Horner, just love her!
Time to get back to my machine. ranette

The civil war block looks very nice I think. The last pattern for your niece looks very difficult to sew? All those curves! But it looks beautifull.

I have never seen a Quiltmania magazine in person. That quilt you showed looks adorable! What year is this scheduled for. I am booking 2016. LOL!!
Which issue of Quiltmania is that? I love that quilt, too, but don't know if I bought that issue.
Your curved piecing looks great! Thanks for your comment on my art piece. It was out of my comfort zone, too, but it was so easy I think I could teach it now.
Several in my stitch group want to learn, so if Leslie and I have a little "class" you can come over.
I love curved pieces and that quilt looks awesome as well as the other.
How lucky is your niece to be getting such a fabulous quilt for a gift. I like the new Civil War block and the colours. Quiltmania is such a great magazine, good luck with planning the baskets.

I have the Curlicue Crush pattern and the AMH fabric to make that quilt too! Yours for your niece is looking beautiful.
I really like the fabrics you chose for London Square. And even if its not your fave it will probably look great with all of the other blocks. Curlicue Crush is beautimous! I love it and so will Brittni. Can't wait to see it finished.
Your nieces quilt is going to be gorgeous!
I am enjoying seeing all your civil war blocks too

Hi Ranette, thanks for the heads-up on this week's Civil War block.
I've never seen Quiltmania magazine before, but I'll have to go searching now. Not only the quilt lovely, but so too are the little lamp shades in front of it.
Really like the quilt for your niece. Hope you got your sewing time in.
Regards, Sue
I really like your Civil War block.. and the quilt for your niece is going to be stunning!!
Ranette,
The quilt for Britt is stunning...Karen had the right words for it. The quilt in QuiltMania so looks like you. I saw another one on a blog the other day and it made me think of you too! I too like the colors in the SW block. It will all work in the end. I do covet Britt's quilt...I may have to make me one...in orange colors...LOL

yowsa - lots and lots of curves!!!
i guess i'm kinda glad that i don't have a niece who i love THAT much - my sanity is very important to me (chortle)
I love the quilt you are doing for yoru niece. it looks like it could be difficult. I'm sure she will love it.
The basket quilt is fantastic!! Wow, what tiny blocks!!
Your niece's quilt is going to be a beauty! You are brave, I'd never have attempted this, no matter how much I love my niece.
Hi Ranette....Yes, I have that Quiltmania, have traced that little basket template and have one applique'd onto a charm square and am on number 2. I probably won't do the quilt like it is in the magazine, but I just wanted to do some of those little baskets. I'll do a post after I have a few more finished. Your Civil War block is pretty, and your niece will just love her quilt.
