So remember when I told you all that I had made block four, the Santa block, for the Scandinavian Christmas quilt and then I lost or misplaced it? Well guess what? I didn't lose it because I never made it, even though I really, really thought I had.
I decided to just make it over again and when I did, I realized that I had never made it, but I've remedied all of that now and here is a picture to prove it.
I guess I had just thought about which fabric I was going to use for his coat and beard that my brain was convinced that I'd done it. Anyway, all of the applique is now done and I'll be doing the embroidery over the next few weeks.
I did want to tell you about the new applique pins that I'm using now. If you are using the ones with the white heads, throw them out and run to your nearest quilt shop or your computer and get some of these.
They are Jeana Kimball's Foxglove Cottage 3/4" pins and they are amazingly sharp. I just love them! I've used her needles too and I love them too.
Anyway, now I've come clean to you all about my brain fog...lol...and I feel better!
I'll be back with a photo of the progress on my nieces quilt very soon....lots of curved piecing, but it's oh so pretty!

Too funny....you are beginning to sound like me now....love the block by the way.
Cute Santa there Ranette. My husband swears he has told me things and I swear he hasn't. I am usually right. One day he arranged for someone come to value the house, he went out for the day, man came with clipboard and I don't know who was more surprised - him or me when I wouldn't let him in as I knew nothing about it. My husband just plain forgot to tell me about it - he said he thought he had. Life is never dull.
Love Shirley.x
I'm still hoping you really did make it and now you can send me one. LOL!!!
LOVE IT!!!!
Looks like I will add those pins to my shopping list.
Now there is proof you made it!
What a funny story Ranette!!
Well, it makes sense. We think about projects in our mind so much that we think they are done. You probably dreamed about your Santa too and thought he was done. lol
But now he really is and he is cute.
I just got some of those pins for a gift but have not even opened the package yet but now I will check them out.
You have too much on your plate! I love the Santa. Don't worry about the fog, we all have it one time or another.
Your santa was worth the wait. Love those applique pins. Hugs
That's too funny. And, you admit it!! Just kidding, I have done similar things and have made myself crazy!!
He looks fabulous - you're guilting me into carrying on with mine (only 1 block most of the way done)! I'm going to hunt down the pins - I have the white headed ones and dislike them intensely.
lololol! You must have been thinking REALLY hard about that block to have tricked your brain so well. I love the block and I can't wait to see the curvy quilt. I must confess that a little bird already showed me a few early progess pics and I love it.
Oh...how you crack me up!!!! Yep, we are related..no doubt about it now. I think that I have those pins too...wait I might be thinking that I bought those pins...lol Can't wait to see Britt's quilt progress. You are the BEST!!!

Your "new" Santa looks great!!! I had a period of "misplacing" things too.....so glad you are feeling better now!
I looove Jeanna Kimball's needles. I haven't seen those pins before, thank you for the tip.
The memory was playing tricks, I feel like I've made a whole quilt when I've studdied it too long but never convinced myself, lol. Very cute santa, love him. It's really interesting about the pins, the white headed ones aren't that sharp and they tend to fall out easily.
I love Jeana Kimball's needles and pins too
they are just so sharp and the applique straw needles last a long time
they don't bend for me like other brands.
so funny about the block!
I am sure that has happened to all of us at one time or another!

That's funny!! Glad the Santa mystery has been revealed :)
Regards, Sue
I love to hear such things they make me feel normal. The block is very cute. Those pins look interesting and I thought they would be handy for my up and coming pies and tarts but I don't think she ships international. damn
hahaha. Sometimes we just think so hard about something, it just has to be true! So what's so special about the pins?
