I picked this quilt up from my quilter last weekend and have been sewing on the binding all week. It's a BIG quilt and it will be a warm quilt to snuggle under because I had Linda use a wool batting in it. Actually it will be great in warm weather as well because wool "breathes" very well. It washes up well too. Here are some close-ups of the wonderful quilting.
I think if you click on the pictures it will show up pretty well. I took these pictures while it was still dark and with a flash, so I know they aren't the greatest, but you get the idea. I'll probably use the quilt on our bed for Christmas and maybe for Valentines Day. It makes me excited to finish the NI blocks and get them together.
My friend Sharon's brother-in-law made this wonderful quilt rack for me as a thank you gift for letting him park in the store parking lot during football games. Isn't it just awesome?!?!
Kelly is an extremely talented woodworker and I feel very special to have been given such a nice gift.
Allie continues to improve with very limited mobility. She is catching up on homework and the home bound tutor came yesterday to help and will be back today. She still has tons of pain and I noticed that it was worse when the storm front passed through yesterday. I can always tell at least 12 hours before a storm is coming because I can barely move. I praying that this "side effect" will go away for her.
I did have time Tuesday evening, mainly because I was so angry and frustrated at things going on in our life right now but that's for another post, to get in my sewing room and complete another quilt top. I will get a picture of it on a sunny day as it will not photograph well in this dull, gray, rainy light we've been having.
To all my friends in Denver, I'm sorry Winter is there so soon. Stay warm and stay safe, but enjoy all that snow, if you can.
Have a great Friday...it's going to be a busy, busy one here in Stillwater. Hopefully I'll be back next week saying that Oklahoma State University beat the heck out of Texas.

I'm loving the red and white quilt and the quilting is fantastic!!!! Way to go on a great finish!
your red and white quilt is, of course, absolutely lovely!
it has finally stopped snowing - and it even started to melt yesterday afternoon - just in time to turn into ice - yikes! but it's supposed to be in the 60s on sunday.
i'm for ANYBODY beating the heck out of ANY texas team, so go OSU!!!
Allie is far too young to be a weather-predictor - so i hope right along with you ... take care, sweetie!
OH, your quilt is stunning! Perfect for Christmas and Valentines.
Great quilt rack with such lovely quilts on it too. A nice surprise.
Love it! (The quilt AND the ladder) Still praying for your family. I feel for you all. E mail me your home address and I'll send Allie a card.
I can't stop staring at that quilt. I just LOVE it!!!
I like the ladder rack and of course the quilts on it! I have thought of a ladder rack myself. I have also seen it in a magazine where the rack was hung in the opposite direction on a wall with huge hooks. The quilts had to be folded different but you could put more of them on it. It looked pretty cool they way they did it.

My dream quilt right before my eyes!!! Red and white quilts are my absolute favorite. 2010 for sure. Too many projects to complete before Christmas.
Now that Ranatte has me totally inspired!!!
I have been so excited to see the finished quilt! It is just beautiful. I enjoyed seeing you put up blocks as you went - really created anticipation.
I am so sorry about Allie. I hope she feels better, soon. So, you are a human barameter, too? Those fronts are killers for me. I hope she doesn't inherit it, either.
You know thr red and whites are my favourites, love the toile and what a great finish. The ladder looks wonderful. I hope Allie feels better soon.
Hi ranette
Your Red and white quilt looks fabulous :-))) Well done. I know what you mean about quilting calming the frustrations at the moment. Isn't it amazing that once you immerse yourself in the moment all the frustralions take a back seat and patchwork becomes the healer.
Take Care and I do hope that everything becomes rosier soon.
Cheers
Lynne

Beautiful quilt, Ranette! Just love those two-color quilts. Also, I'm glad Allie is coming along.
What a breathtaking quilt Ranette. I just love it.
Larry said that the OSU vs Texas was one of the biggest games today. GO OSU!!!!
I pray that Allie's pain with weather fronts will go away. So glad that someone from the school came out to help her.

Sorry to hear that life has a few bumps for you. Hopefully things will smoothen soon.
The quilt is absolutely great!! It really is and the quiltwork really adds to it. Did you wash it yet? I'm afraid to wash my red/white after the pink disaster with DS'quilt.
All the best for Allie; we'll be thinking of you :)
