Richmond block, done!

Here's my 6th Barbara Brackman Civil War block, Richmond.

Is everyone else enjoying looking through your fabrics and piecing these blocks as much as I am? Here's another crooked picture of all 6 of my blocks together.

This next picture is for Yvette (BOM quilter and her link is on my sidebar).

I still haven't found my 4th block of this little quilt. I know I made it, I just know it. I also know that if I give in and make the block again, I will find the missing block within minutes of finishing. I'll give Santa a few more days to show up!
Here's what I started working on during our 2011 Blizzard.

My sister gave me this kit for my 50th birthday back in August and I was saving it for a special occasion and a couple of snow days qualifies in my book. The quilt caught my eye when it was on the cover of Quilt Mania (my favorite magazine in the whole world!) and Pamela surprised me with the kit. Here's a link to the quilt shop Den Haan & Wagenmakers. The fabrics are mostly Dutch Chintz and are so vibrant and lovely. The hardest part of making it is getting everything organized and in the right place. I've got a pretty good start and I hope to make at least a couple of blocks everyday so I'll be finished fairly soon, hopefully. Thanks again Pam...you are the best sister ever!
I just noticed that the top 4-patch in my Richmond block is turned wrong. Do I rip it out and fix it or just leave it for humility? What would you do? Well back to the sewing room! ranette

OMG!!!!

First of all, you know I have to comment first on the Scandinavian blocks. YUMMY!!!!! I can't wait to start mine. You have done such a fantastic job on all of it. LOVE IT!!!

I am completely jealous of your time in the sewing room due to weather. I really need to move. We have no weather days here. It's just not fair. Look at all those delicious CW blocks. They look great together.

OOOH! You started that quilt. Another one that is a beauty. I love those fabrics.

OK, back to my Cinderella duties. :( Something told me to take a break and look at a few blogs. I am so glad I did.

Your Civil War blocks are wonderful. I'm doing them as well, and it has been fun. I would say leave the 4 patch as it is, but knowing me, I would probably fix it. However, when the whole quilt is together...no one will ever notice. Aren't snow days the best!

I didn't even notice the turned 4 patch until you pointed it out!
The Dutch Chintz quit is going to be magnificent!

banucto ... mophoomp ... what is UP with the word verifications tonight?!?

i think i already know the answer to the humility question - and i'd almost bet that you've already fixed it, cuz that's how you roll

my sister REFUSES to learn how to quilt - and if she ever DID give me a kit, it would be to make it for HER - ha ha ha ... so maybe Pam(ela) IS the best sister ever ... well, she is YOUR best sister, for sure!

I had to look hard to see the misplaced block - I say leave it as is. It looks fine and I love all your six blocks so far!

How lucky to receive a kit for that quilt. I have that Quiltmania issue and love the quilt.

I have to admit, I peeked at those Dutch fabrics in the box before Mom mailed them out and thought they were beautiful. But now that I'm seeing it actually being put together, I like it even more. The missing block will be in the last place you look for it... unless it isn't ;o) Hope you find it bc I think those blocks are adorable.

I love all your projects. Being snowed in must have it's advantages. Your CW blocks look so great together.

Your civil war blocks are looking great. I would leave the 'misplaced' block in there. I like it when not everything is as it should be. It is just as if you have a little secret in there, because it is hard to find if you dont't tell. If you know what I mean:)
Your dutch quilt is already looking beautifull, I like the colours.

All your CW together look great! I'd leave the four patch. Nobody would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.
I'm really enjoying watching your Scandinavian Christmas blocks come together.

Love your blizzard project! It looks so complicated and the fabrics are lovely!!

All you blocks are just lovely Ranette. I wouldn't have even noticed that one was turned wrong. I am sure that you have fixed it by now. Also, just keep on looking for your missing block. I am sure it will turn up, unless you just want to make that block again for fun! Lol...Glad you are enjoying making the Dutch quilt. It is going to be a beauty. I think you are the best sister ever for teaching me how to quilt, so there!!!

Ranette, your Civil War blocks are looking great. It's so nice to see them laid out together!

Of course, I'm loving your Scandinavian Christmas. I'm sure Santa will turn up.

Looking forward to seeing your birthday quilt progress. Blizzards certainly seem to have their advantages.
