Linda D. The random number thingy picked #18...cool huh?! I couldn't get it to copy and paste on my blog, so you'll have to take my word for it....lol
Linda send me an email with all of your details and I'll get the Fig Tree kit out this week. Congratulations!
I'd like to thank all of my blog buddies for the sweet birthday wishes for me and my sister. It's like I was able to extend the celebration around the world! My friends and family came over for a steak and chicken fajita dinner, with homemade tortillas and several different kinds of cake. Everyone was too kind and I'll be showing you a couple of my awesome gifts in upcoming blog posts.
I've been sewing a little bit in the last few days and I managed to finish my Kaffe Fassett Diagonal Madness quilt...
Not a wonderful picture, but it's huge! I'm thinking about trying to "big stitch" quilt this myself, but I'm just not sure if I can even baste it. I spent several hours basting this little quilt earlier today and it just about wore me out...lol If anyone has any ideas of how to hand quilt in the white area with the embroidery, I'd really appreciate it. I can figure out how to do the blocks, but I'm lost on the rest of it.
I did machine quilt my Hexie quilt that I made a few weeks ago and I'll show a picture when I'm done with the binding. Quilting my quilts myself really takes me out of my comfort zone. I much prefer to send them off to my favorite long arm quilter, but my husband still hasn't found a job, so I really need to quilt them myself.
I started a new project, but I'll wait for a different day to show that one!

I can't give you any hand quilting ideas since I can't hand quit yet. That is next on my agenda.
OK, your Diagonal Madness is AWESOME!!! I just love it. I wish you would stop teasing me with all your wonderful work. I want to do it all. Please only work on things I have from now on. LOL!!
You also know how impatient I am. You must tell me what you started. PLEASE!!!
I love your diagonal madness, that came out fabulous. I have the kit for that one. The little quilt is beautiful, I have no idea how to do the middle. I think I'd cross hatch it and miss out where the stitching is. Sorry I can't be more help.
Congratulations Linda!
So that Diagonal Madness quilt has me ooing and awing too Ranette! It's gorgeous!
i love what you are doing with the winter stitchery ... as for quilting it? well ... i'm gonna watch your comments and to see what other people tell you (cuz SOMEDAY i'm gonna FINISH EMBROIDERING one of my stitcheries and i will need to know, too)
if i could never quilt another quilt myself, i wouldn't - i am usually unhappy with my results and it wears me out ... but i hear you - i can't afford to send them out, either
I think I would go with Janet on this one. As the quilt isn't very big I would cross hatch the outer border and outline in the ditches for the centre. I don't think it needs a lot. Should it need something in the centre then what about a few beads in the same colour as the background just to anchor it down. Love your diagonal madness quilt it looks sensational and I can see the colour picked out in the wall. Big stitch quilting will soon have it finished. Janet gave a link to preparing a quilt for quilting which was really good. You will have to go back quite a few posts to find the link, it may help. It was a You Tube link.

Your Diagonal Madness quilt is amazing!! I love the soft pinks in there.
Sorry I can't help with ideas for quilting the embroidery. I really love your embroidery and the piecing around it.
Can't wait to see your hexie quilt and your new project!!!
Both quilts are great. Love, love, love the Diagonal Madness! I agree with Shirley! ~karen
Congrats to Linda I know she will love it!!!
I love the Kaffe quilt. It turned out AWESOME. The other quilt is lovely too. I wish I had ideas how to help you, but I don't, sorry. I am anxious to see your hexie quilt.
Your Kaffe quilt is lovely and livable. You're such a tease, about your other projects. Can't wait to see them!
The Kaffe quilt is striking. I would probably quilt the other one diagonally through the center in just one direction with the rows not too close together avoiding the stitchery.
What beautiful work Ranette! I agree with Shirley on the quilting of the little stitchery one.
Belated 50th Birthday wishes to you... my head was in a spin last week and just coming down to earth >G< as I turned 55 >VBG< The week has just flown in hasn't it.
hugs

Your Kaffe quilt top is stunning. Some great gifts in the previous post. cute red plate stand.
I would either do an echo quilting around the embroidery or cross hatching.
I hope your husband finds a great job soon, I know that is stressful! I love the Kaffe quilt, I had to click on it and get a better look. And of course, I love the red and white one, too! I'm catching up here and you might already be started on it but I was thinking white snowflakes of some sort in the white area. I'm sure you'll come up with something great!
