Pretty girls!!!

What a fun weekend we had. Lots of yard work done, a little bit of quilting and Prom pictures, of course! Here is a picture of just the girls in Kara's prom bunch. She is the beautiful blond in the yellow dress. I can't believe that she is almost finished with high school. Today she thinks that she'll go to Oklahoma State but I have no idea what her major will be. That could change tomorrow.

Jay left for Redmond, Washington today. He'll be back late on Thursday. Hopefully I'll get lots of sewing done while he is gone. I'm off to work ... Monday it's a struggle!!! ;)

Busy busy Saturday

It's Saturday!!!! I love weekends...I get to spend more time with Jay and hopefully I'll get some sewing time in this weekend. Daughter #2's Senior Prom is tonight so part of the day I'll be busy taking pics and buying breakfast food for tomorrow. Kara and her prom group will all come here afterwards and spend the night and Jay and I will cook a huge breakfast for them in the morning. I love doing that for her and her friends even though it's a lot of work!!!

Here is a quilt I just gave my sister Pam. I was working on the binding when we were all at my Mom's house last month and she fell in love with it...so now it's her quilt. This was a fun quilt to make with the cute little border.

Gifts

I'm not sure I'm cut out for this blogging thing. I just can't keep up with it daily. I have finished a few gifts lately. The pillow is a Mother's Day present for my Mom and the needle case is for a friend in my quilting group. There are 6 of us in the group and we meet every Tuesday night. Five of us in the group are working Dear Jane quilts and I just love those little blocks.

It's been a long time

Well a lot has happened in the last month. My Dad did have surgery (for lung cancer) and they had to remove his entire right lung on March 12th. He passed away on March 18th. It has been an exhausting and extremely emotional time. He was only 67. It doesn't seem fair especially since my 94 year old grandfather is still living and actually he's in pretty good health. He's just crazy mean. My Mom and I had to go check on him last week in Colorado. I don't know if this tiredness I have is from grief or what. I did make some time this weekend to get back to sewing and that really is my therapy. Also my eldest daughter was home from school for the weekend

Posting a picture

Okay...I'm going to try to post a picture of one of my quilts....we'll see if this works! Woohoo! I did it...without to much trouble. This is a quilt that I made for my friend Sharon's 60th birthday in December 2007. I hand (buttonhole) appliqued it and pieced it by machine. The pattern originally had a chicken where the crosses are so I changed it up to fit her better. I think she liked it. That's my hubby holding it up for me. I'll try to post more of my quilts when I have time. I know that I LOVE looking at other people's quilts and I get inspired by some. Now I'm off to vacuum and maybe sew a bit.

Monday morning blahs....

I don't like Monday mornings very well...does anybody??? I didn't get as much sewing time in this weekend as I would have liked. I've realized that I stay in my little room and sew more in relation to my stress level. More stress/more sewing...I guess it's better than drugs, right??
We went to see my Mom and Dad yesterday, it was a really nice visit except for the fact that my 14 year old was acting 14!!! Well off to get ready for work! Happy Monday ;)

1st post

This may be my first and last post....we'll see. I'd really rather stitch quilts than be on the computer but everybody and their sister seems to have a blog....so now I do to! We're (hubby and two daughter's) are going to see my Mom and Dad today. He's due to have lung surgery on Wednesday. We won't leave for several hours so I'm off to piece a couple of blocks before we do. I'll try to post photos of some of my quilts soon. I have several hand projects going right now and well as my Dear Jane and a repro quilt from before Civil War time. Happy Sunday!
