Vacation???

Okay...I don't mean to complain but geez this vacation is way more work for me than normal and I'm not getting much sewing time in. I do like having my hubby around but he wants me to come play with him in the pool or go for a walk or watch a movie with him. Then everyone looks at me and says what do we have to eat in the house???
LOL Today we are going to see my Mom for lunch and then run errands around the City and maybe go out for dinner! woohoo

Christmas Siggies done

I just finished the Christmas Siggies for the swap in October. I had to get them done early because Fall is an extremely busy time for me and the family. So now I can get back to other quilts I am working on and have missed terribly

I did get to stop at a quilt shop on the way home from Kansas City yesterday. It's Quilters Haven in Overland Park, Kansas. If you ever get the chance to stop I would. They have some beautiful shop samples hanging...didn't have the camera with me so I don't have pics. No quilt kits though, which is probably good as we as quilters or at least I, need to get back to picking out my own fabric for projects. I have been doing that with several quilts lately but for a few years I just made kits and I think my creativity suffered, not that I am that creative of a person anyway. When I first started quilting, 20 years ago, I always took a pattern to the store and picked out fabric. Well have a great day.

VACATION!!!

We're on vacation...that makes me happy like this quilt that I made a few years ago for Tess on her 13th birthday (she is my youngest daughter Allie's good friend). I even quilted this one...don't look too close!

Jay and I are going to Lawrence to pick up Allie in a little while. We'll spend the night with Emily tonight and then go to Lenexa to have lunch with Jay's sister Lana and then home tomorrow. Maybe just maybe I'll get to stop by a quilt shop as there are several that I like in the area where we will be.

Almost done with Christmas siggies...I ran out of my main fabric just 37 short so I dug through my stash and I'm not thrilled with what I'm using but it will be okay I guess. I need to get back to projects that I like to do....

Another rainy day

I'm getting a little bit tired of storms and waking up to drenching rain. Don't get me wrong...I love rain but only if I can stay home and make a quilt like the one above...lol. This pattern is Heart Crazies from Buggy Barn. Here is there website http://www.buggybarnquilts.com/. Don't know how to make that a direct link yet. Anyway I bought the fabric in New England about 3 years ago when my hubby and I went for 10 days to celebrate being married for so long! This is actually the second quilt like this that I've made, I gave the first one to my sister.

The first quilt shown today is one of my favorites. I think it's called Handkerchief something or other. I bought the fabric at Harper's in Overland Park, Kansas, one of my favorite shops and it's in a book by Kaffe Fassett. It has a really good feel to it but I won't let any of my family use it because it's MINE!!!

Well I've got to get ready for work now, I've got a 10am meeting with a sales rep today, yuck. Maybe I'll have energy to come home a sew this afternoon.

Here is a picture of Gypsy my helper. I love this cat...she is so full of personality and she's just loves to be around me! How could I not love her...lol!!!
I thought today I'd show a couple of pictures of one of my favorite quilts, Ruby Slippers. I made it several years ago and as you can see it hangs in my stairway.
I realized as I look for pictures of my quilts to put on this blog that I haven't taken pictures of all of my quilts. That's something that I need to do and I'll work on it this week. Three more days until 10 days of vacation....yipee! We're not going anywhere special but just to be off will be great.

I just looked at the picture of my cat and PLEASE don't think that I keep my sewing area so messy all of the time. I've been working on those darn Christmas Siggies and shoving everything else to the side. I'll get it cleaned up soon...lol

Fathers Day...2008

December 12, 1940 - March 18, 2008

Wow this is harder than I thought it would be...I just want to say that my Father was a great Dad. I knew I was loved and accepted by him. He was also a good Grandpa. The granddaughters always went to him if they had something really important to talk about. I could go on about him as a person but I'll just leave it at this. Happy Father's Day Dad. I love you! Friday the 13th!!!!

Well it's Friday and it is going to be a busy day. I have a sales rep at 9 am at the store. Then Sharon and I are going to stand on the street as the funeral motorcade of a fallen soldier goes by...heartbreaking. After that we'll take Allie up just past Wichita to meet Emily so they can spend the weekend at Em's house.
Hopefully we'll have the chance to stop at a couple of quilt shops in the Wichita area. whew!
