It's Thursday!

I like Thursday's ... the work week is almost over and I look forward to the weekend. I like this day because Jay comes home today and I'm getting my hair done!
Also Allie has a band concert tonight, the last of her Freshman year. My baby is growing up. I made a little progress yesterday in my sewing room. I got the binding sewed onto Kara's 18th birthday quilt. I'm still hand sewing it down. I'll post pics when I'm done with it. I made another red and white Nearly Insane block. I believe there are 37 pieces in this 6" block. Here's another basket block I did the day before.

Well I need to go do my hair before I go get my hair done...that really doesn't make sense, does it???

How can it be Monday...

again!!!! Time flies when you're having fun, I guess! It was a pretty good weekend. Jay got home late Friday night from Seattle and Saturday was a pretty relaxed day for cleaning, quilting, watching a movie (27 Dresses...great flick) and getting ready for my garage sale. Sunday was pretty much more of the same. Jay leaves again on Tuesday for Savannah but he'll be home on Thursday. It's just that time of year for his travels.

I had some fun making these little basket blocks also. They are 6" blocks and I am for the most part paper-piecing them. They come from the french quilting magazine, Quilt Mania. I love that magazine!

Well off to work so I can buy more fabric....lol

bad blogger

I'm such a bad blogger. I'd rather read other people's posts than to write my own. Yesterday was a good day. Much accomplished...nothing really finished but I'm closer. Here are a couple of blocks from the Truly Scrumptious quilt that I'm working on. I started it as a way to use up left over fabric from Kara's 18th bday quilt, (which is at the quilter's) and I have really enjoyed the hand work. Pretty girls!!!

What a fun weekend we had. Lots of yard work done, a little bit of quilting and Prom pictures, of course! Here is a picture of just the girls in Kara's prom bunch. She is the beautiful blond in the yellow dress. I can't believe that she is almost finished with high school. Today she thinks that she'll go to Oklahoma State but I have no idea what her major will be. That could change tomorrow.

Jay left for Redmond, Washington today. He'll be back late on Thursday. Hopefully I'll get lots of sewing done while he is gone. I'm off to work ... Monday it's a struggle!!! ;)

Busy busy Saturday

It's Saturday!!!! I love weekends...I get to spend more time with Jay and hopefully I'll get some sewing time in this weekend. Daughter #2's Senior Prom is tonight so part of the day I'll be busy taking pics and buying breakfast food for tomorrow. Kara and her prom group will all come here afterwards and spend the night and Jay and I will cook a huge breakfast for them in the morning. I love doing that for her and her friends even though it's a lot of work!!!

Here is a quilt I just gave my sister Pam. I was working on the binding when we were all at my Mom's house last month and she fell in love with it...so now it's her quilt. This was a fun quilt to make with the cute little border.

Gifts

I'm not sure I'm cut out for this blogging thing. I just can't keep up with it daily. I have finished a few gifts lately. The pillow is a Mother's Day present for my Mom and the needle case is for a friend in my quilting group. There are 6 of us in the group and we meet every Tuesday night. Five of us in the group are working Dear Jane quilts and I just love those little blocks.

It's been a long time

Well a lot has happened in the last month. My Dad did have surgery (for lung cancer) and they had to remove his entire right lung on March 12th. He passed away on March 18th. It has been an exhausting and extremely emotional time. He was only 67. It doesn't seem fair especially since my 94 year old grandfather is still living and actually he's in pretty good health. He's just crazy mean. My Mom and I had to go check on him last week in Colorado. I don't know if this tiredness I have is from grief or what. I did make some time this weekend to get back to sewing and that really is my therapy. Also my eldest daughter was home from school for the weekend
